Antique Victorian puffy heart with cannetille work 9 carat gold
Era: Victorian 1837-1901
Metal: 9 carat gold (high carat gilding)
Size: 23.5x15mm inc. jump ring
Weight: 1.7g
We love a puffy heart and this one has some gorgeous gold detailing. The top right is covered in fine cannetille work and the other side of the bead detail border there is a depiction of a myrtle leaf.
The myrtle leaf had strong associations with Venus, the greek goddess of love and so it symbolised devoted affection, beauty and a happy and faithful marriage.
The pendant is in good antique condition with a 9ct stamp to the reverse. It has a high carat gilding and this is slightly worn in a patch to the reverse so you can see the more rosey tone to the gold. There is a small amount of verdigris faintly seen in the cannetille section.
