Antique Victorian engraved band ring 9 carat gold

This is a late Victorian (C.1893 I think!) engraved patterned band. It originally started life, much wider than its current 2.9mm width. The hallmarks are cut quite precisely through the middle, which leads me to speculate it has been cut in half on purpose, perhaps to share the original ring between two people for sentimental reasons?
 
From what I can make out, it reads 9.375, birmingham and the top of the letter t- for 1893. It still wears well despite this, fitting comfortably on the finger.
