What a superb bloodstone seal ring. Not only is the condition excellent, with the seal remaining in excellent condition, but we found it in an early Victorian era box, possibly a family heirloom.
In the centre is a star and the inscription around the edge is in Latin.
'Quid verum atque decens curo et rocco' What is true and honourable, is what I care and ask for. The motto and crest of the La Touche family.
The gold has a lovely rich buttery tone and the engraving is crisp and clear, a truly wonderful piece of history.
