Antique Victorian cabochon garnet rose cut garnet ring 9 and 18 carat gold

With its foliate engraved collet setting and an empty domed locket back, this striking ring is early Victorian. In my opinion the piece has been made into a ring with a slightly later addition of a 9 carat gold band.
The garnet has wonderful inner glow, and  the rose cut diamond is bright in a detailed flush setting. It has a split shoulder design and is in good antique condition. There are some minor flea bites to the Garnet, but it is in excellent condition for its age.
The locket back could be used for a keepsake, but we would suggest this is done by a skilled jeweller.
