Full of sentiment, is this exquisite Victorian necklace, which has had no detail spared in its creation! On a fine 1.6mm curb chain, 10 bezel set split pearls are spaced evenly around the front half, to meet a central pearl set ribbon bow; from which is suspended a vibrant red guilloche enamel witch's heart, featuring an old cut diamond.
The bow measures 17.5mm across at the top and the heart is 8.9x8.2mm.
The condition is excellent antique, with only one miniscule flea bite to the edge of the enamel and very minor wear to the surface of the pearls. The chain is in good condition and closes securely with a box clasp and safety chain.
This would most certainly have been a romantic gift, with the symbolism of the bow, meaning loyalty and devotion, or being bound in a close relationship. Pair this with a heart for true love and specifically a witch's heart meaning one was bewitched with love. The pearls represent purity and the red enamel has been chosen to signify a romantic attachment, considering all of this together it could maybe have been worn as a wedding necklace?
