Antique Victorian tooth pick fob 9 carat gold
Era: Victorian 1837-1901
Metal: 9 carat Gold and base metal
Size: 50mm long
Weight: 2.4g
They used to attach all sorts of useful items to their albert chains or ladies chatelaines, case and point, this retractable tooth pick.
With an orange gem to one end, which could also have functioned as a small wax seal, it is rather decorative for such a useful item. It likely has some form of metal core for strength and some elements are gold cased, but all of the thin sliding portion is crafted in 9ct Gold, which has been engraved.
In excellent working condition, it has a jump ring so can be worn still today.
