Antique Victorian paste riviere style necklace silver
Era: Early Victorian C.1850
Metal: Silver
Gemstones: White paste x7 each 7x7mm
Length: 41.5cm
Weight: 7.1g
An interesting find, an unusual example of a Victorian era paste necklace, spaced with silver foxtail chain and closed with a barrel clasp. The whole piece carries a wonderful patina.
The settings are all domed closed back with claw detail to hold the pastes. There are some areas of solder repair to the back and sides of the settings and the claws show age related wear, shortened and missing in places, but there are enough remaining to hold the paste securely.
The pastes themselves are a wonderful bright shade of white, with just one or two spots of very minor age related wear, notably one small 1.5mm scratch to the top of one paste.
A wonderful antique necklace that would look lovely paired with other chains in a stack and suitable for wear, mindful of its age and condition.
