Antique Georgian pinchbeck prince of wales long guard repousse chain
Era: Georgian C.1800-1840
Metal: Pinchbeck
Length: 96cm/37.8"
Width: 7.3mm
Weight: 76.1g
An absolute statement chain, I like it best worn double wrapped as a long and short layer. It has the original large barrel clasp, which functions well. Each link has a bobble textured repousse finish to add detail. The condition is excellent for its age.
Pinchbeck, a form of brass, was invented in the 18th century as a simulant gold, made of an alloy of copper and zinc, it does not tarnish and so retains its buttery gold appearance. A true piece of history, I bought this very well and so will pass that on to you!
