Antique Victorian cabochon sapphire ring 9 carat gold

An early Victorian Sapphire ring, proving that sometimes simple design is all you need. The setting of the cabochon gemstone is closed back with a crimped edge and the ring shank is two joined fine bands that finish in a split shoulder design.
 
The gold is a rosy toned antique 9 carat. The gemstone has some lovely natural inclusions, including some that reach the surface and it also shows a little surface wear, although I'd expect this from the age of this piece and the setting, from which the sapphire stands proud. It is in lovely antique condition.
