This exquisite turquoise and diamond star set old cut diamond chunky Victorian brooch is gorgeous. It is 9 carat gold with a silver star and is a lovely butter yellow colour, set with cabochon turquoise stones. The stones are the most beautiful shade of blue with slight variations in colour as they are natural turquoise. The brooch measures 50 x18mm in size, with a 1mm old cut diamond set into a silver star. The bombe section measures 18x14mm and the brooch is 9mm in depth. It is closed back with a decorative Etruscan heart detail.
There are no marks on the piece, but it is confirmed as 9 carat gold with a rich colour, has a tube hinge and C clasp and weighs a heavy 6.3 grams. Turquoise is the Victorian stone of friendship and affection, and it was said that you would never be lonely if you were wearing turquoise. The brooch would have dated from the Victorian romantic period of 1837-1860. The brooch would be suitable to convert to a pendant if you wished, but we are presenting as a brooch for sale in the first instance.
It will be presented in our vintage style luxury packaging with care card and description, and delivered by a tracked, signed for and insured method. Stock no 968
