Antique Victorian Canterbury cross 9 carat gold
Era: Victorian 1837-1901
Metal: 9 carat gold
Weight: 3.1 grams
Size: 19mm diameter
This is a beautiful Victorian gold pendant, in the form of a Canterbury cross. It is beautifully engraved with forget me knot flowers. I believe it was originally a fob attached to an antique albert chain.
The original Canterbury cross was thought to date to the 8th Century and was found beneath a street in Canterbury. There is a replica of the original in the Cathedral in the city, which is considered to be the Mother Church of the Anglican community.
This stunning pendant is in very good antique condition. The gold is a rich colour and there are only light signs of previous wear.
