A piece of jewellery that has been in our collection for quite some time and I never thought we would sell, but it deserves to be worn and cherished!
When we found this, I immediately thought of our business logo, with the symbols of a moon and arrow and had never realised how similar it is, to those images symbolic of Diana the huntress.
She was the Roman goddess of the hunt, wild animals and the moon; and associated with Artemis, the Greek goddess. We often see her depicted with a bow and arrow and accompanied by a deer or a hound.
This sublime brooch depicts her bow and arrow around a central crescent moon and large pear 'heart' shaped rose cut diamond. It is a continental piece, with the Dutch oak leaf marks found on the brooch c-clasp and has also been tested as 14ct Gold.
The central heart and moon section swings within the outer ring of the brooch, I have shown this in the photographs.
I have often thought to convert this into a pendant, but wanted to offer it just as it is first. It could however be done should you wish, just send me a message to discuss.
I have included below the measurements of the largest single diamonds in the brooch.
The glorious central rose cut pear shaped Diamond is the star of the show and measures 9.3x5.7mm which faces up as approximately 0.75 carats. It is held in a cut down collet closed back setting.
In the outer ring there are 2 rose cut pear shaped diamonds measuring 4.3x4.6mm each, facing up as 0.44 carats approximate total.
There is also a further central pear shaped rose cut diamond, which measures 5.8x4.6mm giving 0.35 carats approximately. There is a small blemish in this diamond to the left edge as you look at it between the two prongs there, it looks to me like a surface reaching inclusion not a chip. It is very small (around 1-1.5mm and I'm just mentioning it for accuracy. It is right where the diamond meets the setting so it is obscured.
In between the larger pear cut diamonds in the outer ring, there are 2 more pear shaped rose cuts, each measuring 3.8x2.8mm giving 0.14 carats approximate total.
There are a further 20 rose cut diamonds set to the crescent moon and arrow. All of the diamonds in the piece are held in closed back settings and have been assessed as between J-L colour and SI1-2 clarity whilst in the setting.
