Antique peridot pearl lavalier pendant brooch 9 carat gold
Era: Victorian 1837-1901
Metal: 9 carat gold
Gemstone: Peridot, pearl
Weight: 2.6 grams
Drop: 46mm
This is a stunning and large Art Nouveau Victorian peridot and seed pearl gold pendant/brooch known as a holbein. This is the name given to pieces of jewellery originally made with both fittings.
This has a faceted 5mm peridot stone in a double claw setting with ornate scroll, heart and ribbon designs typical of the Art Nouveaux period, which lasted from 1890 to 1910. There are two seed pearls set into the bail, and a beautiful natural baroque pearl lavalier drop in a wirework setting.
Above this is another pearl in a floral motif. The pendant is articulated at both the bale and the baroque pearl so that there is movement. The brooch fitting fastens with a gold pin and has a round hinge and C clasp fitting, and the bail drops neatly behind to wear as a brooch.
The pendant measures 46mm drop, 38mm width and weighs 2.6 grams. It is marked to the rear 9c for 9 carat gold, and will be supplied ready to wear with a complimentary gold plated 18 inch chain so that it is ready to wear or gift.
Peridot is the birthstone for August and was very popular in Edwardian and Victorian jewellery. This pendant has survived very well, being in very good antique condition with no damage or repairs.
This lovely pendant will be sent by Special Delivery, or tracked and signed International service, with a full description and care card. It will be sent gift wrapped in our vintage style packaging. Stock No: 1830b
