Simple and oh so elegant, this early 20th century diamond necklace is superb! Featuring a chunky old mine cut diamond suspended from a knife edge bar, in an open back 18ct gold and platinum topped setting, the diamond is eye clean and very bright. It is possible there used to be other stones that hung underneath this diamond from the small hole to the bottom of the bezel setting. The chain is platinum and is a cable and bar link design 1mm in width, which remains in good condition with only light wear.
 
There are a few fine feathery inclusions in the diamond, seen under magnification. There is a small blemish to the surface of the diamond seen at the top left corner, on the facet closest to the setting. You have to look for it to see it.
