This is a stunning Art Nouveau Victorian amethyst and seed pearl gold pendant. With a faceted amethyst stone in the centre setting with ornate foliate designs typical of the Art Nouveaux period, which lasted from 1890 to 1910.
 
The amethyst measures 4mm in size and is a beautiful purple colour in good condition with a mill grain setting. There are 16 original seed pearls set into a pretty foliate setting and the bail is also set with seed pearls. The pendant measures drop 48mm, 40mm in length, 20mm width and weighs 2.8 grams.
 
It is marked 9ct to the rear for 9 carat gold. Amethyst is the birthstone for February and was very popular in Edwardian and Victorian jewellery, and this pendant has survived very well, being in very good condition.
